Nintendo preparing to released a new Nintendo DS?

Hello!

Well, it's a very interesting week today as a Japanese newspaper called "Nikkei" said that Nintendo will release a new Nintendo DS.

They said that it will include a camera, MP3 capabilities, advanced Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and larger screens.

Well, this seems like a "miracle" for Nintendo gamers until I tell you this: http://news.portalit.net/fullnews_nintendo-denies-new-ds-rumors_1617.html

Nintendo is denying that rumor. This is Nintendo's responds...

"Nintendo has made no such announcement and will not comment on rumor and speculation."

Well now, this is kinda harsh don't you think?

But that doesn't mean that Nintendo said no. It just means that maybe there not goina give us the truth.

Of course, I don't believe that Nintendo will make such a console because Nintendo is dedicated to gaming. However, I won't be surprised if Nintendo did make a Nintendo console that has the ability for picture taking and music.

One reason is the Game Boy Camera. Another would be the Nintendo MP3 Player.

And there are more.

But one thing is for sure, well will find out what Nintendo has in store next tomorrow at there press conference. And we will find out there "new products" which might be:

  • A new DS

  • A new home console

  • The Wii "storage system"

The storage system most likely will be there... but what about the new consoles? Well, I will give you the full coverage of all of the specs in the conference from the sales to the new games and products... and we should see a lot of games and products (Nintendo of Europe announced more then 50 Wii and DS games combined for released for 2008 alone!)

On October 2nd, don't forget to watch the press conference because on October 2nd, the entire planet will turn there attention to Nintendo.

The History of Nintendo Part 3

In 2003, Game Boy Advance SP was released and sold over 41 million units. And in 2005, Game Boy Micro was released, selling 2 million. Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP, and Game Boy Micro were all the same except that Game Boy Advance SP and Game Boy Micro had brighter screens and a rechargeable battery.

Plus, Game Boy Micro did not have the ability to play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games, Game Boy Micro marked the 20th Anniversary of Nintendo gaming, it was marked as the second failure in Nintendo's history and as the last of the Game Boy line.

In 2001, Nintendo released the Nintendo GameCube. Dolphin was its codename during development. This was the first Nintendo console to have a CD-drive. It has sold about 22 million consoles. In it's current lifespan, it had more then 500 games and the best-selling game was Super Smash Bros. Melee. By this time Xbox and Playstation 2 were released and Nintendo was losing really badly. Also, in 2002, Satoru Iwata become the forth and current president of Nintendo.

And then, Nintendo DS (Nitro as it's codename) came in 2004, around the same time as Playstation Portable (or PSP). The DS was unique for the double screens, touch-screen, and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The DS was selling more then PSP. This was Nintendo's turning point and also marked the end of Sony's popularity.

And then in 2006, Nintendo released the Wii (Revolution as it's codename). It was unique for its motion control, use of Mii's, the ability to play NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, TurboGrafx16, and Sega Master System games, and advanced Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The best-selling game is Wii Sports (which is included with the console). Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 were released by then and could not stop the Wii in terms of sales once. In fact it's selling more then both of them combined! And everyone now thinks that Ninendo DS and Wii have already won this generation's console war. 2006 also marks the release of the Nintendo DS lite, a slimmer, lighter, smaller version of the console.

Wow. That's all lot of info. Of course there is more but I won't go that far. Now, currently, where does Nintendo stand? Well...

Nintendo right now is the current leader of the console war (portable and non-portable) in terms of overall sales up to this point (Microsoft is second and Sony is last). In terms of monthly sales, Nintendo is still the victor (Microsoft and Sony are both fighting for second). As of June 30, there are 29.62 million Wii's and 77.54 Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS lites combined worldwide. Nintendo GameCube's lifespan is still continuing but no games will be released.

There are currently (ether released or are going to be released) 273 Wii games and 340 Nintendo DS games released as of September 21, 2008 in the Americas. As of that same date, there are 27 released WiiWare games (WiiWare is a downloadable service that lets you play games without using a disk at all) and there are 1134 Virtual Console games available for Wii (There are 366 VC games for Japan, 253 games for the Americas, 252 for Europe, 237 for Australia, and 26 for South Korea).

Currently there is the head president, Satoru Iwata. He is also the president of Nintendo of Japan in Kyoto, Japan. The president of Nintendo of America, which is in Atlanta, Georgia (Nintendo Atlanta) and North Blend, Washington (Nintendo North Blend) is Reggie Fils-Amie. Nintendo of Canada's president is Ron Bertram. Nintendo of Canada's headquarters is in Richmond, British Colombia and a distribution centre is in Toronto, Ontario. Nintendo of Europe's president is Satoru Shibata. Nintendo of Europe is located in Großostheim, Germany. Nintendo of Australia's president is Rose Lappin and it's location is in Victoria, Australia. Nintendo iQue of China's president (and co-founder of iQue) is Dr. Wei Yen. It is located at Beijing, China. There is also Nintendo of Korea.

Now the future of Nintendo (It won't take more then a few sentences).
Nintendo is currently developing WiiSpeak, Wii MotionPlus, and the SD Card Menu. WiiSpeak is a microphone for Wii that allows players to talk to each other. Wii MotionPlus is an peripheral for Wii that lets players use 1:1 gameplay: meaning that any sudden movements of your body will be converted into moves.

Well, that's all. If you have any questions about ANYTHING Nintendo please don't hesitate to post it as a comment or e-mail me. I may not give you all of the answers, but I will try to give at least some it as much as possible.

Have a nice day.

The History of Nintendo Part 2

Anyway, back to the NES or Famicom in Japan. The NES's life span was from 1985 until 1995 in the US and 2003 in Japan. There were 61 million sold worldwide and there were 1,236 games released for the NES with Super Mario Bros. being the best-selling game of it's lifespan... and in video game history.

1988 marked the first year for Nintendo Power.

In 1989, Nintendo had made the Game Boy. The Game Boy was the best-selling console to date. Nintendo had sold almost 120 million systems (this total includes the total number of game Boy and Game Boy Color sales combined), and it had a total number of 1,548 games worldwide, with Pokemon Red, Blue, and Green combined as the best-selling game for the system.

In 1991, Nintendo made there third home system, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or SNES in the US and Super Famicom in Japan. It's lifespan lasted until 1999, Nintendo had sold more then 49 million, and had 785 released for the console.

Nintendo was originally going to make a partnership with Sony to make a console that would have a CD drive. Nintendo was going to call it the Playstation. But after realizing that Sony would get most of the credit and seeing that the Sega CD failed to become a successful console, Nintendo betrayed Sony and made an agreement with Philips to create a video game console. Of course Nintendo betrayed them too and started developing the SNES.

But Philips still wanted to make a video game console, so Philips created the Philips CD-i. And since they still had the agreement of making Nintendo games for the console, Nintendo games were created for it. However, most gamers agreed that those games were some of the worst games in video game history. Eventually, the console failed to be a success.

By this time, Sega was going to try to put Nintendo in there place by releasing the Sega Genesis. It was also followed by a famous catchline "Genesis does what Nintendon't". However that didn't affect Nintendo's success with SNES.

In 1995, Nintendo released the Virtual Boy. This console was the least selling console of Nintendo's history selling less then 800, 000 units. Only 22 titles exist for the system and more then 20 games were cancelled. This was a failure for Nintendo so Nintendo barely mentions it and was discontinued the next year.

1995 had also marked the starting point of Sony gaining more popularity then Nintendo and Sega.

In 1996, Nintendo released the Nintendo 64. This is the third system that uses 3-D graphics (the first system was the SNES mainly because of the FX chip and the second console was the Virtual Boy). It was originally named Ultra 64 in the US and Project Reality in Japan but since the names were owned by Konami, they changed it to Nintendo 64. The lifespan was until 2002, and had sold almost 33 million. There were 387 games released worldwide and the best-selling game was Super Mario 64.

In 1988, Game Boy Color was released. There were about 300 games in it's lifespan and the best-selling game was Pokemon Gold and Sliver.

Then, in 2001, Nintendo created the Game Boy Advance. The Game Boy Advance had SO many games... about 1000 games. It has sold around 80 million systems and the best-selling game was Pokémon Emerald.

The History of Nintendo Part 1

This is, of course, my first post. So please be easy on the comments.

Nintendo didn't really start as a video game company... no, no. Nintendo actually started as a card company. The company's name was called "Nintendo Koppai" and it was founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi in September 23, 1889 at Kyoto, Japan. The cards they made were called "Hanafuda" cards and they were made from Mulberry tree bark in a hand-made fashion.

The company was successful... so successful that Yamauchi had to keep up with demand by hiring assistants. Eventually, the cards were mass produced instead of hand-made. In 1949, Hiroshi Yamauchi (grandson of Fusajiro Yamauchi) took over the company. Yamauchi would be the third president of Nintendo after Sekiryo Kaneda (the son-in-law of Fusaijro Yamauchi), which Kaneda was the second president since 1929.
The success of Nintendo continued until 1956, when at that time, it was so successful that Yamauchi decided to have a deal with United States Playing Card Company. However, there were limitations.
In 1963, Nintendo Playing Card Company Limited become Nintendo Company, Limited. Nintendo tried to go into the "love hotel", taxi, food, and TV businesses between 1963 and 1968 but they failed to have success in any of those. What was even worse was that there playing card business was failing too.

Nintendo then decided to go into the toy business. There first toy was the Ultra Hand. That became a successful toy. Nintendo then made even more successful toys like the Ultra Machine and the Love Tester. This continued until 1975.

And then, Nintendo when on to the vidoe game business (which was young at that time) in 1974. They started to produce the Color TV system. And, in 1980, Nintendo created there first portable system, Game and Watch, which become a huge success. Then in 1977, a man who had just completed a degree in industrial design was hired by Yamauchi by his father. And, that man was: Shigeru Miyamoto.

Nintendo of America (which was new at that time) wanted something successful. So Nintendo produced the arcade game, Radar Scope. However, the game became unsuccessful. NOA desperately needed a great game, so Yamauchi turned to Miyamoto. Miyamoto ended up creating Donkey Kong in 1981. Nintendo was saved because of this game. And, not only that but Nintendo had gotten there icon for Nintendo: Jumpman, which was later renamed as Mario!

Unfortunately, there were 30 or more systems in the market, and many poor games from other companies. That hurt the industry at the point of exciton. This was the video game clash of 1983-1984. Then Nintendo saved the industry by making the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES with a game that would one day become the best video game in history: Super Mario Bros.

Intro Blog

WARNING!: This is only a introduction, not a real post! DO NOT comment on this post. ALL comments will be deleted!

Hi! If you don't know me, my name is Junior. This, of course is my first post on this blog and I hope that you enjoy your stay here. This blog is connected to my YouTube channel. It's http://ca.youtube.com/user/Juniorpond This channel will have the official Nintendo videos for DSiWare. It will also have help and support videos, DS demo reviews, gameplay, and tips and tricks on using your retro, Wii, and Nintendo DS series consoles.

Basically, in this blog, all of my posts will be on Nintendo. Some of you may say, "Why are you talking about Nintendo? You could have talked about Playstation/Xbox!", or "Nintendo sucks!", or "Nintendo is for babies." Well, you can say what YOU want, but I will still talk about Nintendo. Why?

1 - I like Nintendo. Period. No questions asked.

2 - Nintendo has almost always never let me down (except... maybe the E3 2008 Conference).

3 - I think it's great that Nintendo is focusing more on casual players. More gamers = more friends = more challenges & records to break.

4 - No matter how hard Sony and Microsoft works, Nintendo is STILL beating them in the console war - portable and console.

and 5 - Nintendo is simply... fun.

But anyway, my blogs will be about Nintendo. If this is your first time using this blog please go to the “History of Nintendo” post.

This blog will also include reviews for Nintendo DS demos that you can download from the Nintendo Channel-every Friday. I will link my reviews in my YouTube channel.

For those of you who don't know what the Nintendo Channel is, the Nintendo Channel is a free Wii channel that you can download from the Wii Shop Channel. This channel is basically an information channel. All Wii, WiiWare, Virtual Console, and Nintendo DS games that are either released or that is going to be released in your region can be viewed in the channel. Mini-documentaries, product demonstrations, trailers, and gameplay videos can be also viewed in the Nintendo Channel. Finally, the Nintendo Channel (…ok this “channel thing is getting really annoying!) has the ability to let you download Nintendo DS demos from your Wii to your Nintendo DS by using Wii-to-DS connectivity.

In my opinion, Wii and Nintendo DS are one of the best systems in the world, and I'm proud that Nintendo has made them both: With motion control, touch-screen technology, double screens, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, WiiWare, Virtual Console, DSiWare, and games like Smash Bros., Mario, Pokémon, Zelda, Guitar Hero, Metroid, and Brain Age, life couldn't get any better then this!
